HMRC pushes its Help for Hustles campaign again
HMRC has renewed its Help for Hustles campaign, aimed at people earning extra income from selling things, providing services, creating content or renting out property.
The key figure is the £1,000 trading allowance. It is a single allowance across all your side income, so £600 from photography and £500 from social media posts comes to £1,100 and is over the limit.
HMRC also receives information from digital platforms, which makes unreported income easier to spot. Anyone who needs to file a return should tell HMRC promptly to avoid a penalty.
