Autumn Budget on 28 October: what we are watching
The Chancellor has confirmed that the Autumn Budget will be delivered on Wednesday 28 October 2026, with the Office for Budget Responsibility publishing its forecast on the same day.
The date was set out in a letter to the Treasury Select Committee on 31 July. No rates, thresholds or measures for this Budget have been announced, so anything you read predicting specific changes is speculation.
The Government has said it will not raise the rates of income tax, employee National Insurance or VAT. That leaves other areas, such as thresholds, allowances, reliefs and how different types of income are taxed, as the places commentators are watching.
What we will do
We will publish a plain-English summary on the day, focused on sole traders, landlords, contractors and small businesses. If anything affects your tax planning, we will tell you.
In the meantime, there is no need to change anything because of rumours.
